MANA / MANAAKI

Building the mana of others, through nurturing, growing and challenging.

Robert Newson talks about parents as role models for their kids

Different people talk about what mana / manaaki means to them. One kuia explains it like this, "If people need kai, shelter, manaaki  - bring them in, do what you can to help them". A tane says that an example of mana / manaaki for him is when people who are not speakers of te reo Māori use phrases like 'Tena koe, kia ora, nau mai'.
